Luanne O'Brien
Professional Dance Instructor
Luanne
O’Brien is an accomplished ballroom dancer and instructor.
In 2006, Luanne began teaching International
and American style group classes for adults as well as putting together
a curriculum for instruction at elementary, junior and senior high
schools. The focus
of her school program is to teach ballroom dance and etiquette to
students ages five and up. Since beginning her
program, she has taught nearly 2000 students with incredible success. She
currently teaches private and group lessons to adults, children and
educators.
Since
the early 90’s, Luanne has adopted an integral lifestyle approach which
involves health and fitness of the body, mind and spirit. In 1998, in
an effort to find a fitness program befitting of this philosophy, she
began to study ballroom dancing. Since then, she has created dance
programs to help others experience the joy and fitness of this ever
increasingly popular art form of ballroom dance.
To date,
Luanne’s ballroom dance experience includes instruction in both American
and International style ballroom dance. She has trained with
internationally recognized professional champions, participated
routinely in group instruction, performed student/teacher exhibitions,
competed in amateur dance competitions and maintained a vigorous daily
practice schedule.
Similar
to the human adventure, dance is ever changing and evolving. To avail
her students with the most current, up-to-date experience possible,
Luanne’s dance prowess is strengthened by her continued private
training with internationally recognized professional champions, participation in group classes and practices
with her professional partner.
As an
amateur competitor, Luanne partnered with her husband Joe in both the
United States as well as Canada. They competed in International Waltz,
Tango, Quickstep, Foxtrot and Viennese Waltz as well as International
Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Jive and Paso Doble. Currently, as a professional
competitor, Luanne has partnered with David Marsh and competes in
International Standard events.
When she
is not teaching, Luanne volunteers her time promoting the art of dance
through charitable events.
